Vehicle Lease vs. Buy Calculator

This calculator compares the costs of buying or leasing a vehicle. There are three sections to complete, and you can adjust and experiment with different scenarios.

  • The amount of value the car will lose every year, 15% is the average.

    This field is for any other upfront fees due at signing.

  • The residual value is the vehicle's buyout price at lease end, a percentage of the MSRP. Use the dealer's RV or estimates. The RV affects your monthly payment. Examples: 36-month lease - 55%, luxury car - 65%, 48-month lease - 50%, luxury car - 60%.
